In keeping with the Hike or Bike series, this is a four stage multi cache, along trails that are easy to either hike or bike around. The posted coordinates are for suggested parking. The first stage is listed as a child waypoint.
This park in Pickering has long been absent of any caches and I thought it was time to place one in this family friendly setting. Located along a hydro corridor, the park is a tribute to the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and has been sectioned off into a number of play areas for local youth and adults.
These areas include a Creative play unit for children (18 months - 5 years), a Basketball Court, a Ball Hockey Court, Skateboard park, Community Garden and private Volleyball Courts.
GPS Signals tend to bounce under the hydro lines but you should be able to find the first two stages easily enough. The second stage and final may require a bit more of a search.
Stage 1 - Will bring you to a sign. Find the four words located directly below the picture on the sign. Note: these words are the smallest print on the sign. Count the number of letters in these words. For example, if the words are red, white and blue you would count red = 3, white = 5 and blue = 4. Add these numbers and multiply by 5
Example (3+5+4) x 5 = 60
Subtract this number from the seconds of the North coordinate at Stage 1 to get the North Coordinate for Stage 2.
Take the same number you got above {Example (3+5+4) x 5}, and subtract 107. Subtract this number from the seconds of the West coordinate at Stage 1 to get the West Coordinate for Stage 2.
Stage 2 - Look for a date located on the information plaque. Take the year on the plaque and divide by 6 then add 28 to get the last three digits in the Stage 3 North coordinate. (Year / 6) + 28 = North Coordinate.
Take the number for the day of the month on the plaque and multiply by 11. Add 8 to this number and subtract from the Stage 2 West Coordinate to get the Stage 3 West Coordinate. [Example ( 4 x 11) + 8 = 52]
Stage 3 - Look for a traditional redirect with the coordinates for the final cache.
