Now a U-Haul dealer, this was once family owned grocery store that has made a big impact in St Mary’s county.
In 1948, the first store opened its doors in Hollywood. By the late 60’s, it expanded into Lexington Park. It was one of the few stores that has been in business since the early days of Lexington Park. The store offered a large selection of food choices, household goods and even hardware long before the 'Mart came to town.
But this was more than just a grocery store. The proprietor's, the Mckay family, have long been very involved in Southern Maryland community activities and events.
This area is a mixture of old and new with a newer housing area in front of this shopping area and one behind it. There is an old re-purposed bowling alley just to the east and a new elementary school just a little further south. This mesh of old and new shows the emerging of a new Lexington Park.
The Lexington Park GeoTrail is currently unavilable, but the old Passport can be downloaded here.
