Geocache Description:

Celje je tretje najvecje mesto v Sloveniji. Herkulovo svetišce se nahaja na desnem bregu reke Savinje. Je dokaj zakrito ocem, zato moramo biti bolj pozorni, ko ga išcemo. Predel okoli Miklavškega hriba velja za prvo stalno poselitev v okolici Celja. Herkulovo svetišce je bila anticna kultna stavba in namenjena cašcenju božanstev. Do danes se je ohranil samo en steber, drugace se pa vidijo samo ostanki templja. Svetišce je bilo uniceno po letu 399 n.š.

Celje is the third largest city in Slovenia. Heracles temple is located on the right bank of the river Savinja. It lies in the Sadnik garden under Miklavški hill. It is quite hidden to the eye, so we must be more careful when we are looking for. Area around the hill shows the first permanent settlement in the vicinity of Celje. The first beginnings of the village had already been raised in the Hallstatt period, in the early Iron Age. The settlement was known as the Celts Keleia. Heracles ancient temple was the cult building and intended to worship deities. Heracles is the most famous hero of Greek mythology and one of the many children ruler Zeus. In Roman mythology, is called Hercules. To date, only one pillar maintained, otherwise, there are only a few remains left of the temple. The shrine was destroyed after the year 399 AD, when the edict was adopted on the destruction of pagan temples in the countryside.
