Olton Friary 1 Traditional Cache
Family B: It was still there in full working order but as we have moved from the immediate locality we have decided to archive as these caches have been out for a while, and this will open the area up for new caches. I have therefore collected in the cache. I hope something interesting replaces them

You are looking for a small camouflaged clip-lock box. It is placed one of Solihull’s hidden green spaces behind the Olton Friary and coincidentally next door, the Jewish independent Orthodox Synagogue (Solihull Shul).
Bishop William Bernard Ullathorne, the first Catholic bishop of Birmingham built St. Bernard's Seminary at Olton in 1873.
In 1889 his successor moved the seminary to Oscott. The building was purchased by the Capuchin Friars and became the Franciscan Monastery of the Immaculate Conception. They built and opened the church in 1929.
Fr. Pascal OFM cap built the parish hall in 1955. At 2.00pm on July 21st, 1970 the church was engulfed in flames. Most of the roof and all of the benches were destroyed. Through hard work and generous donations it was re-opened fifteen months later.
The friars left on 10 January 1981 and the Sacred Heart Fathers and Brothers of Bétharram took over the running of the parish. October 4th 1990 saw the consecration of the church as Church of the Holy Ghost and Mary Immaculate but it is still known as Olton Friary.
