Geocache Description:

12:30pm Sunday Oct 16th

Learn how to geocache during this free introductory event at the Kincaid Park Chalet,
9401 West Raspberry Rd. All experienced cachers willing to earn an event “smiley” are urged to attend with spare GPS units in hand as “Field Assistants” to help beginners discover the joy of geocaching.

This Educational Event (EduVent) is brought to you by the members of: GeocacheAlaska!

Working hard to promote Geocaching in Alaska! Please join us today!

We begin at 12:30pm indoors with a quick overview of how to find geocaches online, load coordinates into GPS units, and prepare to go afield in search of the cache itself. Then we'll move outdoors with GPS units in hand to begin our journey of discovery... ending with the 'find' of an actual geocache located close nearby the chalet. The route will include several waypoints where cachers will encounter different types of cache containers. Experienced field assistants will be on hand to ensure everyone gets as much personal attention as necessary to make their first geocaching expedition a success! Today’s event attendees include Big Brothers Big Sisters youth and their matches on a “field trip” to learn the Geocaching basics – so join us in an afternoon of fun in Kincaid Park!

Participants please bring a handheld GPS unit (a team can share), spare batteries, footwear & clothing suitable for a blustery fall day at windy Kincaid Park. Geocaching is an all-weather all-season outdoor activity involving the entire family, including well-behaved dogs on a leash.
