Geocache Description:

A cache to encourage people into Lamesley Pastures and beyond.

Lamesley Pastures was purchased by Gateshead council in 2002 and the council planed a re-development of the south area with a small path-system running through it, whilst the north area, was left as an open flood plain- one of the last in the Tyne and Wear area. This was partially due to the historical significance of there being a medieval village near the plain.

The south end is mainly a nature preserve whilst the north end has a Bird-Hide for wildlife lovers. The south end is more "tree-friendly" whilst the north is more "animal-friendly". The main road to Kibblesworth divides the north and south ends.

The pasture car-park is the nearby pub (there's only one but I'm not allowed to give it's name) - this is in the deeds of the pub. Then, in the south end, there are 2 main paths, one running from end to end, and one running from the pub to the main path. A nice, short, winter stroll.

The cache is the usual tupperware box and contains a few trinkets. It is hidden to encourage cachers to take a greener route to the pastures - walking rather than driving the car, as, there is no parking apart from the pub.

A side gate into the pastures, but, if you're exiting from this way, be weary of the road - it's a blind corner!

I only realised however when I returned home, that there was no pen in the cache (sorry!) so please bring your own writing 'device'.

Please could I also ask for more than "TFTC- Nice cache." or "DNF- Nice Area"- I really enjoy reading logs, could you make them worth of being read please? I also enjoy photos of the cache and it's surroundings- please feel free to post LOTS of pics! :-)

When you're putting the cache back, could you please ensure you replace the cache as you found it! We really appreciate any OTS maintenance also!

Happy Hunting!
