Geocache Description:

Explore a natural cave

Note Dec. 28, 2013 - The cache may be missing. Last cacher did not find it. You might want to come prepared with a replacement micro container. Thanks.

Follow the blue and white trail along Betzet Stream (marked in Hebrew and English)

You must have a flashlight to enter the cave.
The short walk only takes a few minutes - you enter the cave and get to a small room where you can see stalagtites then can exit the cave through a small opening.

For a longer adventure you can continue into the cave for about 30 minutes (depending on the amount of people) which includes some crawling and exit at the top of the cave.

You can see small reflectors along the cave. The white color shows the way in. The Red color shows the dead ends and the orange color shows the way out.

Warning:
Use only flashlights - candles destory the stalagtites!
Do not touch the stalactites or bats in the cave.

Note: in the winter months the cave is closed to protect the hibernating bats. (the cache is located outside the cave.)

The hike in Nahal Betzet to the cave is beautiful and shady. The closest access point is from the parking lot at Sarach Rest area (parking and picnic area) where you take the blue and white trail to the cave - a 1 1/2 km walk/hike.

If you have a 2nd car, you can park it at the end of Kibbutz Eylon at the snack bar. Then you can continue walking from the cave along Nahal Betzet following the blue and white trail. There is water in the stream at many points. As you approach the kibbutz, take the black trail to the south (on the left) - with a steep climb up to the kibbutz. Total hike will be 5 km.

If you only have one car, you can return and hike the 1 1/2 KM the way you came.

To Sarach Parking area (trail head):
Drive East on the Northern Road #899 to Granot Ha'Galil. IMMEDIATELY after the entrance to Granot Ha'Galil is a left turn (North) to the road to Sarach Parking Area. Beware - the left turn comes up quickly! (where the left turn lane is for those coming to Granot Ha'Galil from the East on highway #899)

As always take a hat, several liters of water and a trail map.
