Geocache Description:

Scallops has added a micro cache on Mud Pond.

Walk out on the Mud Pond Trail to a remnant of Lake Israel. If you are quiet, you might see the residents of Mud Pond. This cache and trail are completely handicap accessible. Road access is off Route 115 between Whitefield and Jefferson NH. The Parking lot is marked with a sign (The Mud Pond Trail).

The beavers are visiting the area. We don't expect them to stay long but in the meantime there is water under the walkway. When you return the cache to it's hiding spot, try to make sure that it isn't in the water. Knots worked for us on a recent visit. We will look into other ways to keep this cache dry but it's hard to do in a swamp.

On 6/28/2016 we replaced the replacement cache with a new micro cache. This cache is really small and does not have a pen or pencil (or even room for one). Hopefully this cache will last a little while but I bought 4 so we can keep replacing it when someone drops it in the swamp. Thanks to everyone over the years who have helped us maintain this cache. Scallops really appreciates your help.

On 6/23/2018 The cache was replaced and moved to a slightly less obvious location. Hopefully this will cut down on the loss of cache issues we have had. Enjoy the area.
