Geocache Description:

A cache placed within view of the Grey Stone:or rather a very large glacial Erratic Boulder split in two…..or is it?

The cache is placed at the roadside field gate as it may not be possible to get to the Grey Stone if the field is in crop.
Look for the flower from the tailor’s garden

The lands of Kilbryde were once a thriving community. It is hard to imagine the cottages and rural industry which once stood around the place you are now standing at, as it is all now agricultural land.

“In a field stand two lumps of rock – once one- borne thither on a barge of ice perhaps from a mountain side 100 miles away, or some say, from across the ocean. There, under the friendly arm of a thorn hedge, appears each summer a little flower to recall to us the tailor’s garden where, round the thatched cottage with its honeysuckle, bairns spent happy summer days. There is also the spot on the knowe above the burn where green –coated fairies were seen and heard by the Miller’s daughter; while not far off is Mattie’s Pool, where poor Mattie, the weaver, whose brain became clouded with religious doubts, was drowned.”
From The History of Dunblane by Alexander Barty.
