Geocache Description:

The Green County Barn Quilts project started in 2008, and by the end of 2010 the 100th barn quilt was installed. Barn quilts are painted wooden squares (designed like one block of a real quilt pattern), generally 8 x 8 feet in size. Some are located on "working" barns, and others are displayed on "retired" barns. It's not as challenging as geocaching, but hunting for the barn quilt locations is a true adventure in experiencing the roads less traveled of the Green County countryside.

The dairy barn was used by the former owners of the farm, Joy and Delbert Rohde. Using mortaise-tenon construction, the turn-of-the-century barn is estimated to be over 100 years old. The "Blowing in the Wind" quilt is based on the Lafayette Orange Peel quilt pattern, with a color scheme of smoky emerald (green), golden valley (gold), casa deoro (yellow) and irish plum (purple); the background is sky blue, representing the clean air made possible by renewable wind and solar energy, not fossil fuels. This Barn Quilt is called Blowing in the Wind.
