Si ha notizia del marmo di Ornavasso fin dall’epoca romana, come documentano steli e altari del I e II secolo d.C. conservati nelle Civiche Raccolte Archeologiche del Castello Sforzesco di Milano.
Osservando la valle si nota l’inizio della via d’acqua che dal Toce al Lago Maggiore, poi lungo il Ticino e il Naviglio Grande fino alla Darsena di Milano favorì a partire del XIII secolo l’impiego del marmo di Ornavasso in numerosi e insigni monumenti dell’area lombarda quali ad esempio la Certosa e il Duomo di Pavia e il Duomo e l’Arco della Pace di Milano.

There are reports of Ornavasso marble since Roman times, such as stelae and altars of first and second centuries AD keep in the Civic Archaeological Collections Castello Sforzesco in Milan.
Looking at the valley we see the beginning of the waterway from Lake Maggiore Toce, Ticino and then along the Naviglio Grande in Milan, favored the use of Orvanasso marble, in monuments of Lombardia such as the Certosa and the Cathedral of Pavia, and the arc of the Peace and Duomo of Milan.
The cache is out of the quarry.
