Hefeweizen Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Also known as Weissbier, Weizenbier, Weizen, or in general Wheat
Ale. "Hefe" means yeast, and "Weizen" means wheat, so Hefeweizen is
"yeast wheat." Germans prefer to call the brew Weissbier, while
North Americans prefer the term Hefeweizen. The beer is yeast
turbid, because it is unfiltered.
German versions of Hefe often differ from the American style in
that the American Hefe's are usually hoppier while the Bavarian
Hefes will have more banana / clove taste notes due to different
brewing process and fermentation temperatures.
