Geocache Description:

This is one in a series of caches entitled "Take a Hike" that was placed by The Lynch Three between 2011-2012. There are no puzzles, no hard multi's, or no challenging hides in this series; instead, what they share in common is a good hike in the woods, enjoyable in any season.

The Lynch Three has been retired from caching for a while now, so I adopted some of this series so that others could have the same experience of taking a great hike like I once did!

There are three potential trailheads I have provided for you to start your hike. Before 2017, the only way to access the cache was by crossing a beaver dam, but now there is a boardwalk with beautiful views of the Salem Street Swamp.

(The Lynch Three, 2011): I like this trail system so much that I decided to link together three "Take a Hike" caches in here: Salem Street Swamp, Salem Street Boulder, and Old Bay Circuit (Old Bay Circuit is in the process of being archived.). You have a choice: you can do all three in one hike from one parking spot, if you are willing to risk a dam crossing. Otherwise you can split the three into two hikes, one from Salem Street and one from Berry Street.

From Salem Street you will mostly follow the Bay Circuit Trail; from Berry Street you will be following the old Bay Circuit Trail. The choice is yours, and depending upon your approach you may have a 200 foot long beaver dam to tightrope across to access GZ. Your reward, though, is your own private little beach on a swamp filled with wildfowl. Enjoy your hike!
