This is a traditional cache, although some of you may remember it as a mystery cache that has since been archived. I LOVE the area and wanted to keep this one alive, so am doing so as a traditional cache.
The cache is named for my 6 year old Hanovarian x Appy mare, Summer. Summer LOVES to go out on long trail rides, and this is an area we visit regularly as it's about 10 minutes from our home barn.
I adopted Summer in April of 2011, after a really bad experience with my last horse. She has turned into my dream horse! I owe a lot to Summer - she's a teacher, a therapist, a workout routine, and mostly, a friend. Despite being relatively young and inexperienced, she has impressed me with her work ethic and passion for her job - which has lead to many horse show awards in our short partnership.
The cache itself is a 1L hard plastic container with locking lid, hidden on the edge of a forested area, about 20m off the trail. It should be a fairly easy find. Area will be slippery after rains. There is no need to approach the nearby creek or go down the bank.
Please keep an eye out for horses in this area as it is a VERY popular hacking spot for horses from our barn and many others in the area. If you spot horses, move to the side of the trail and let them pass. Please DO NOT yell at the horse or rider, in case the horse spooks.
The local hunt club also uses this area on Saturday mornings for foxhunting so it's wise to wear bright colours in the fall and spring (and avoid the area if you're afraid of dogs and/or horses!). Bugs will be prevelant in the summer, as well as ticks and creepy crawlies. Pants are recommended year round. We have also seen coyotes in the area so please be careful if you find this cache at night.
