Police Escort Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Ngaambul: As there's been either no response from the cache owner, no cache to find or log to sign, or it's been longer than 28 days since the last reviewer note. I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace/make available the cache sometime in the near future (next 28 days), just contact us (by email) once the cache is in place, and assuming it meets the current guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it. Should you replace the cache after 28 days has passed please create a new cache listing so it can be reviewed as a new cache.

Geocache Description:

Back in the 1850's, with Gold being discovered at various locations in Australia, there became a need to securely transport the riches to banks in major centres. At this location there is a cairn commemorating South Australian Mounted Police carrying out Escort Duties from the Mt Alexander Goldfields. The reason for this cache is that during the 1980's in a previous life I was performing similar duties, escorting Gold from Warrego Mine to Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory. Cache is a small red container hidden close by, should be an easy find. There is ample parking, safely off road. Be mindful that there is an at times busy highway just metres away. Also, with warmer weather on its way, snakes can be an added issue.

Happy Hunting
