mailboxmonty: Monty's Cache has had a good innings and has been visited by many other geo-hounds, but I think it's time to close it down.

This cache is set in Odstone Coombes. This is a beautiful, peaceful place, particularly in the morning when the sun catches the beech trees on the north side.
It was also one of the favourite places of our faithful geohound Monty who sadly died in September 2011. He had an impressive cache total and personally found several of them, having a particularly good nose for tupperware!
If your geohound visits this place please post a picture!
There are those who say that the Kingston and Odstone Coombes were the site of King Alfred the Great's Battle of Ashdown against the Vikings in AD871 and that at the top of Odstone Coombes was "the Ravens' Fort."
Please park at the suggested spot and not in the gateway near the start of the footpath. Alternatively you can come down to the cache from the Ridgeway. There are sometimes cattle grazing in the coombe.
You are looking for a well stocked ammunition box.
