There is an upscale Miami's TB Hotel located near Miami International Airport. For those of you who are more adventurous and don't mind traveling into the less picturesque areas in search of a cache, we also offer its mutated sister cache, "Miami's Trashy Hotel". This is, in our opinion, a fun one to get to, but the terrain is not a simple path and the area is not for those with low tolerance for rubbish. However, if you've got a long layover and want to have a short adventure while you wait, this cache will fill the bill!
Best parking is at N 25 46.921 and W 80 16.321 (or along the street to the south)...if you are walking, get to NW 47 Avenue and walk North toward the water. (Note that geocaching maps show another street nearer, but it's actually in an apartment complex full of curious muggles and the cache is blocked from accessibility by a fence. Besides, the recommended parking place and route are an adventure to travel!)
Walk past the guardrail and then travel eastward along the edge of the lake, on the outside of the fence, for about 400 feet (it's a very, very narrow "pier"). At higher tide or where there is overgrowth, you may need to cling to the fence at a couple of spots if you don't want to get your shoes a bit wet, or you can decide to "take the plunge" and wade in the water...it will typically be shin to knee high.. Along the way, you may see dragonflies, lizards, ducks, and other assorted fowl. There may or may not be a couple of thorn bushes en route (it's seasonally cut, apparently), but the path is mostly shrubbery-free.
Cache was replaced on 5/30/24 with a largish pill bottle...log only, so bring your own pen. Please camo the cache in the same spot, tucked against the tree and with rocks on top of it to obscure it from view. Thanks!
