The former Óbuda Gas Factory burned coal to produce so-called city gas used for heating. The factory was in operation between 1913 and 1984 and used the most advanced technology of the time, which made it possible to produce a daily 250,000 cubic metres of gas. Industrial buildings were complemented by workers’ and officers’ quarters, designed in an integrated architectural composition, demonstrating a complex urban development approach. Today most parts of the factory’s stately buildings are national industrial monuments, which at present we can unfortunately view only from the outside.

Az egykori Óbudai Gázgyár, ahol szénből városi gázt állítottak elő, 1913-tól 1984-ig üzemelt. A gyár a maga idejében a legkorszerűbb technológiát alkalmazta, mely napi 250 ezer köbméter gáz termelését is lehetővé tette. A gyárral egyidejűleg, ahhoz kapcsolódóan, egységes építészeti elgondolás alapján valósították meg a munkás és tiszti telepet, amely komplex városfejlesztési szemléletről tanúskodik. Manapság a legtöbb része a területnek állami terület, ipari létesítmény, amiket csak kívülről tekinthetünk meg. A kiemelkedő értékű épületek műemléki védelmet kaptak.
