Bishop 1 - Happy Valley Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

bishopflyer: Thanks to all who have visited over the years but I'm reluctantly archiving this one - the very first cache I placed back in 2011 - as it's gone missing yet again.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to Bishopsteignton - 'Bishop' to the locals.
This is my first cache and is intended as the start of a short walk on the edge of the village taking in 2 more, Bishop 2 - Rowdens X and Bishop 3 - Stationary Contact.
The purpose of this walk is to enjoy some fantastic views so hopefully you will pick a clear day to do it!!
The details for the walk are shown below and on-street parking is available close by the start.
Small prize for FTF - this one only!

If you do the walk, as I hope you will, the first part is up a steep footpath but then you're on to lanes but they can be busy at times, so do take care.
From the cache site take the nearby track/footpath up Happy Valley. Follow the track to the end then continue, following the Footpath sign, through a metaled farm gate with in-built pedestrian gate (it's only the main gate which is padlocked, not the pedestrian one!). Along the bottom of the field, over the stile into a copse then a steep pull up to the next stile to your left, veer right up into the field, again steep, and at the top just stop and enjoy the view to Shaldon, The Ness and out to sea.
I can see my house from this spot when the leaves are off the trees!
Follow the path out to the road, turn right and then keep going gently up to Bishop 2. After this take the road to the right leading back to the village.
As you drop down to the 30mph sign you will reach Clanage Cross where there is a seat. Do take a moment to pause here and again look at the views across the Teign to Coombe Cellars and down towards Teignmouth and the sea, before continuing to Bishop 3
From Bishop 3 retrace your steps a short way and take the footpath on the left. At the bottom of the steps turn right into the housing estate and then just follow the road down back to the start of the walk.
I hope you will enjoy this walk as much as I do, but please do watch children and dogs and be aware of the traffic in the lanes.

N.B. The stile in the copse has now been replaced by a metal kissing gate.
