Geocache Description:

This is St. Malachy West Cemetery in Pittsboro, Indiana.

This is the second St. Malachy cemetery in Hendricks County, as the cemetery in Brownsburg no longer has room for more. Nestled in the heart of Brownsburg Indiana, Saint Malachy North Cemetery is located at the northeast corner of State Road 267 and 56th. The land for Saint Malachy Cemetery was purchased in 1869 and was consecrated and blessed for the burial of all Christians in 1870 by the late Bishop Chatard of Indianapolis. This now historic cemetery has served the burial needs of Hendricks County Catholics for over 136 years and will continue to do so in the future with the purchase and development of five additional acres (Saint Malachy West Cemetery) in Pittsboro Indiana.
