It was placed with permission from the Gray Cemetery Association. This was hidden by my brother-in-law, because he secretly likes to go caching, even through he won't admit it.
The Gray Cemetery was established because a gentleman by the name of George Gray, would pass by this location on the way to visit his children. He expressed a wish to be buried there, as it had the same number of live oak trees as he had sons, which was four.
At the gate of the cemetery, you can read a poem written by Mattie Gray Ashley:
In a valley by the hill where the skies are always blue
There lie the ones we love so well-the ones so good and true;
The wise are there-the brave ones too-
For many dreamed dreams that never came true,
But forever and always may Angels keep
Their loving vigil oe'r all who sleep
In the lovely valley-so tranquil and still
In the sacred valley beside the hill.
