This cache was originally placed here by GREYNOMADS and it has now been adopted by FREDD01. A simple one stage multi along the heritage circuit walk around Lakes Entrance
The start of this multi takes you to a sign showing details of the Club Hotel that used to stand opposite this point. You will need to obtain a few details from this sign to calculate Ground Zero, a short walk away. GZ is at the following coordinates: S 37 53.0(year built less 1799) E 147 58.(year destroyed less 1501)
This spot is popular with the dog walkers and beach goers. The area you will be walking to didn't exist 70 years ago as the whole stretch of land was created by dredged sand and soil pumped here to create a spit of land in the same way that nearby Bullock Island was created. The vegetation here is self sown and includes a couple of Radiata Pines and Palms. There will be plenty of opportunity to do a bit of CITO (cache in trash out).
Take care walking around in this area, it is surprising to find such dense scrub so close to the town centre and keep your eyes open as there have been sightings of slithering sticks from time to time in the warmer weather.
