Geocache Description:

Fernwood Book Exchange

After an inspiring walk in Newlands forest with a friend where we were chatting about books, got the idea to combine two hobbies that I enjoy - reading and geocaching!

The Fernwood Book Exchange is a place to swop books with like minded folks, and we don't even charge. All we ask is that you try and swop books with books of equivalent value/niceness; that you bring your books pre-sealed in a zip-lock bag or wrapped in plastic (and even better if you can add a little desicant pouch); and finally space is limited so the books you bring can't be very large or thick. The book exchange can hold about six normal sized paperbacks.

The Fernwood Track is a walk between the top of the gravel road and the contour path through a fabulous patch of indigenous forest. The walk is mostly on wooden boardwalks. As the path is quite high up, it isn't really suited to those walking with small children. However, it is a really fabulous spot, and it is criminal to not bring your dogs along. At the top of the Fernwood track the walk joins onto the contour path - that is the part where the wooden board walks make a "T" pattern.

Currently the following books are in the Cache:
Title (Author) [Genre]

Stupid White Men (Michael Moore) [non-fiction]
Gold and Silver Water (Elizabeth Arnold) [for girls, about age 8-12]
Straw Dogs (John Gray) [non-fiction, philosophy]
The Lap of the World (John Dickinson) [fiction, fantasy]
Penguin's South African Sports Trivia [non-fiction]

Please post details of the books you swap so that the above list can be updated.

If you can't get a GPS lock, look for a large rock to the side of the path with stones on it. If they're still there, there should also be a grouping of stones arranged in the letters "GC".
