Geocache Description:

Small square plastic pot with a white lid. Bring your own pen or pencil,

Built during WW1 to transport supplies from Wendover to Halton, this line opened in 1917. German POW's being held at Halton completed the 1.75 mile (2.82 km)line in just 8 weeks supervised by military personnel.
After the war it continued to be a useful supply line and was used extensively during WW2, it's use declining sharply in the 1950's when the RAF changed from coal to oil fired generators and their fuel was then brought in by road. In the 1960's when it became necessary to replace the whole line for it to remain in use the decision was made to close it. The last train left Halton on 29th March 1963 and the line officially closed on 31st March 1963.
The only obvious remaining evidence are some embankments and rails in the woods and the almost unchanged platform on Halton Camp.
