Orland Park’s Humphrey Woods are named for Orland Park’s first mayor, Illinois State Senator John Humphrey. Mayor Humphrey was instrumental in having the village incorporated as a municipality and served as its first mayor until his death in 1914. His family home, constructed in 1881, still stands in Old Orland
