After I placed the cache I realized that it is right at 11,000 feet
altitude. The view is outstanding and inspired the name. You are
looking for a hard plastic container that is about 6x5x2 inches.
You don't need to go near the edge. I have provided a spoiler
picture just in case you have trouble.
The cache overlooks Cheyenne Canyon and has great views of
Almagre(Baldy) Mountain and Pikes Peak. It is just north of a point
where two trails intersect on the way to Mt. Rosa.
There are numerous ways to get to the cache.
1) From Old Stage Rd you can take Rd 379 to Frostys Park then hike
trail 672. As a minimum you will need a high-clearance vehicle and
probably 4WD. This is the shortest hike but 672 is torn up from
motor bike use. Even if you have to park near Old Stage this is
probably the shortest route.
2) If you have 4WD you can also try Rd 381 that starts at the Wye
campground. Hike trail 672 to the west.
3) From the Cheyenne Canyon/High Drive parking lot, follow trail
624 past St. Marys Falls. It will get you to road 381. Turn north
up the road and look for trail 672 to the west. This is the more
scenic route but it is 5+ miles one-way.
4) Also from the Cheyenne Canyon/High Drive parking lot, follow
Seven Bridges trail(622) and trail 668 to Frostys Park. Go east on
trail 672. This route is 6.5+ miles each way. You could also do a
loop using this route and the one above.
Finally, if you come up here be sure to summit Mt. Rosa too. It's
view to the south is a match for the view from here.
