Ships Prow Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Ships Prow is one of the most recognisable and striking
images of the Drakensberg. This very difficult pass is notorious
for rock falls, hikers have died here in the past. The Pass is
4,5km long gaining 1400m and topping out at +/-3300m. You can get
here from Monks Cowl or Injasuti camp.
The cache is placed at the top of the pass and you can also get to
it from the escarpment.
This is a mountainous area which means it brings real risks. You
need to be aware of these risks and previous experience of these
conditions will definitely count in your favour, not only to find
the cache but to actually enjoy yourself.
Make sure you prepare yourself properly before venturing
off, sign the Mountain Register and most of all enjoy the splendour
of the Drakensberg.
You will need to bring your own pen to sign the log.
An Elephant pin awaits the FTF.
