TMR--Mahl's Pond Traditional Cache
Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions
in our disclaimer.
Ten Mile River (TMR) is the largest local boy scout camp in the
United States. The reservation is comprised of over 14,000 acres
and was founded in 1927. This section of the property is no longer
actively used as a scout camp and we have opened it for limited use
by the public...and geocaching is one of the uses that fits with
the management plan. The Museum is charged with preserving its
history.
Mahl's Pond is the water across the way and has been fished by
local fishermen for many years. A NYS fishing license and a TMR
fishing permit is required to fish in the pond..but it's always
available for frog hunting and enjoying a day communing with
nature. The cache is a rubber-maid container with the usual swag.
The road is usually clear in winter if approached from Route 23.
Cache placement was approved by Sean Quinn, Director of Ten Mile
River.
