På toppen av Tengsbakkene, like før vegen buktar seg ned mot Tengs bru var tyskarane i gang med å byggja ei forsvarslinje som skulle strekka seg fra Storåsen i sør, nordover mot Vardåsen, over Fv.44 og opp til Gudlåsen ved Fotland.



Denne linja på drøyt tre kilometer skulle kunne besettast av mobile styrker som ei ytre forsvarslinje for Eigersund by om fienden klarte å trenga gjennom det massive forsvaret ved Ogna og Sirevåg. Hovedtyngda av stillingane vart bygd på høgdedraget nord for Fv.44 med skuddretning nordvest mot Lysevatnet. Her finn ein fleire råsprengte tunnelanlegg som skulle vera bombesikre forlegninger til troppene som skulle stasjonerast her ved alarm. Etter krigen vart denne forsvarslinja kalla ”Tengs-defilèet”, og var ei planlagt forsvarstilling for det norske forsvaret fram til utpå 1980 tallet.



On top of the hils at Tengs, just before the road winds down to Tengs bridge, the Germans started to build a defensive line that would stretch from Storåsen in the south, north to Vardåsen, across Fv.44 and up to Gudlåsen at Fotland.



This line of just over three kilometers would be defended by mobile forces as an outer defense line to Eigersund, in case the enemy managed to penetrate the solid defense of Ogna and Sirevåg. Most of the positions were built on the heights north of Fv.44 with line of fire northwest towards the Lysevatnet..

Here you will find several tunnels that would be bomb-proof barracks for troops stationed here during alarm. After the war the defensive line was called "Tengs-defilèet" and was a planned defensive position for the Norwegian armed forces until the late 1980s.
