The third of a short series along Putney Park Lane, a pleasant traffic free byway with medieval origins and an almost rural feel that heads south from the Upper Richmond Road to Putney Heath. This seems to be quite a tricky one to find! It has never gone missing. Sometimes when I drop by to check it, I can't find it, so do persevere.
You are looking for a magnetic tube, log only, located in the viscinity of St. Margaret's Church. This has proved surprisingly tricky over the years - just what was intended! (The church hall is a popular kids' party venue so it can be busy here on Saturdays as well as Sundays) For a bit of history, see North Lodge (GC353V2). Summerfield was another of the large country properties around Putney when it was but a village outside London. The house was located a few hundred metres to the south and east of this spot, directly behind Granard Lodge.
