All things 11 flash mob event on 11/11/11 at 11th Street and 11th Avenue.
On the eleventh day of the eleventh month in the eleventh year of this century*, a gathering at the intersection of Eleventh Street and Eleventh Avenue will take place at exactly eleven-eleven am and will last eleven minutes and eleven point eleventy seconds.
Discussion will center solely on all things eleven. The elevent will not be restricted to eleven geocachers, though it would be cool if eleven were able to attend the event.
*The product of eleventy multiplied by eleven is an anagram of the current year (1210).
When you multiply the date on itself (square), the product is a palindrome and is eleven digits long... 111111x111111=12345654321
An eleven sided polygon is called a hendecagon or a undecagon. (Apparently the rumor is that in math, they decided not to acknowledge that eleven sided polygons exist)
Sports played with eleven players to a side include football, futbol, and cricket.
At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918, a treaty was signed between the allies and Germany to end the Great War. This day was called Armistice day until the end of WWII. We now celebrate this day as Veteran's Day.
