December 3, 2011. Registration and socializing noon to 1pm. Class from 1 to 4:30PM.
After the successful Cacheopoly event at the Jesse James Cache Bash 4, I noticed several newbies attended. In order to help many of them "learn the ropes" I decided to take Byonkes up on their standing offer to do a learning/teaching class in St Joseph. So now is your chance to know what they know.
We have access to this lecture type room for about 100 folks in very nice comfort and seating. Please bring your computers and GPSr and download cords. It is a handicap accessible facility so everyone should make the effort to attend. GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)will be the main topic of discussion as we learn from the masters on how to use all the available things GSAK has to offer. This is a really nice program/site to help geocachers do a variety of things to help them in geocaching. I can use this myself! Atomic Falcon and some others should also be there to lend support for individual needs.
Schedule-
noon to 1 or sooner so we can start asap- REGISTRATION
1 PM- GSAK presentation by Brian Yonke on Getting Geocaches (and the options available) along a route (this is great for driving vacations) and how to adjust it and download it into a GPSr.
3:30PM- Atomic Falcon will talk about trackables and what they are, how to get them, log them, place them and move them.
4:15- Finishing up with Q&A.
Leave to go to the NKC Christmas party EVENT.
We have several door prizes left from the Bash so we will hopefully have time to do some drawings too (Merry Christmas).
A question and answer session will be done at intervals to help on things covered with GSAK to how to hide a geocache and more. Not sure if we will have any new caches to offer but there is always that possibility! This event counts as a new cache so we will draw for FTF!
Food and drink is available on site at the buildings food service tenant.
