Hope View is a small traditional cache located on the Turnagain Arm Trail between the Rainbow and the McHugh Creek trailheads. The cache can also be approached from the Sunshine access point.
The cache is approximately 1.7 miles from the Rainbow Trailhead. You will have 900 ft of elevation gain in the first mile of the hike. The remainder of the hike is easy. It is not a difficult hike and the views along the trail are great.
Caching along the Turnagain Arm Trail can be challenging due to less than perfect gps reception. Those of you who have spent some time along the trail know what I mean! The coordinates for this cache were averaged over 500 times with 12 ft of accuracy. Should you find significantly different coordinates please list them in your log.
Hope View is within 40 feet of the trail so beware of muggles!!!
The cache is a bluish gray watertight cell phone dry box that measures 6 in x 1-5/8 in x 3 in.
There is an 'Orca Cache Buddy' travel bug for FTF along with some other possibly needed summer items.
This cache is placed under Chugach State Park Permit #11-007.
Come visit this cache and the others in the area. You will not be disappointed with the views! This is only one of the 'photo opportunity' overlooks along the Turnagain Arm Trail!!
Congrats to Borstad82 on the FTF on this cache and his first FTF!!! May you have many more!!!
