Geocache Description:

The cache is now a magnetic tin, which once hled mints, in a particularly fine Georgian square. Bring a pen/pencil. I hope to establish a few small caches in the Bloomsbury/Fitzrovia area, without making them a formal series.

Bedford Square is a beautiful example of Georgian architecture in Bloomsbury, central London. It was constructed between 1775 and 1783 and is named after the Dukes of Bedford, who were the major landlords in the district.
It has more blue plaques (& one green) than it would be wise to shake a stick at. One building has two. Take some time to read them & learn about some of the many famous people who lived here.
The buildings are mainly offices now, but there are a number that are home to, or offshoots & departments of, various institutes of higher education including Bickbeck College (University of London), Royal Holloway (University of London),New York University, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, Yale University Press, The Paul Mellon Centre for studies in British Art and the Architectural Association School of Architecture. There's also a nice hotel "The Beauchamp" if you're visiting on a substantial budget.

Unfortunately for you the park in the centre of the square is private, for residents only, but there are benches you can rest on and admire the Square while you fill in the log.
The cache is a small tin container with magnets. It replaces a the original which was stolen, and others that got "lost". The new cache is on the same railings but lower down. Use the old "adjusting my footwear" trick. Bring a pen/pencil. Please take great care when you relace it & make sure it is properly attached. Not suitable for TBs or GCs. Easily accessed by all, please replace with care. It can be crowded in the square during sunny lunchtimes and offices are busy, so stealth required. ** Congratulations to Loony Londo for being FTF **
