Quick cache for the families that visit here from all over the country!
The name is in reference to my co-workers from other bases always making fun of the fact that there is a Navy base in the middle of the country! I've worked as a civilian at Great Lakes Naval Training Center since 1991 and got in to geo-caching in 2007. It surprises me that there was never a cache placed for all the Navy families visiting their graduates and for all the reunions that congregate here so I thought it would be nice. This is a fairly easy park and grab (although snow may make it slightly more difficult.) Please be kind to the location. Enjoy!
NOTE: I've had questions about this being on Government property, or in a locked fence area. It is on a public street that is between two areas of the base. If you are travelling east on 137, you will do a U-turn at the light at Illinois street to be able to turn north on Spaulding Street.
