Geocache Description:

Camo coated twist top container with logsheet, pencil and room for bits and peices.
Please dont over tighten the lid.

Spotted this spot when we went up to do Pirongias Triangle cache (GC2W674) and was quite impressed.

The actual large species the cache refers to is at S 38º 01.886 E 175º07.931 +/- 7m and is on the descending track to the river below.

The cache is nearby off the track to the left near another specimen.

Drive up Te Tahi Road past the Waipa District Council water treatment and water reservoir from SH39 and park at the Carpark area.

The track in from here is closed, well not closed but no longer maintained by DOC but is quite easy to follow as is still being used.
Follow the old track in past a small wooden fence then carry on and look for a short wooden fence and then follow the track down to the ES.
Cache is a short distance off track from here.

Carry on down the track a short way to the clear water river below for a look.

This is the river that supplys the Reservoir down the road which supplys water for Pirongia township.

GPSr readings may be out due to tree cover best was +/-7m, and can be slippery when wet in this area.
