Habben – Kolbäckens habiliteringen
Barn- och ungdomshabiliteringen i Västerbotten erbjuder habilitering samt råd och stöd till barn och ungdomar med utvecklingsstörning, autism, rörelsehinder eller andra svåra funktionshinder.
Habilitering för barn och ungdomar med rörelsehinder och utvecklingsstörning enligt HSL (Hälso- och sjukvårdslagen), som innebär samordnade behandlingsinsatser för att minska eller kompensera medfödda eller tidigt förvärvade funktionsnedsättningar hos barn och ungdomar. På Habben finns bland annat: Datatek för specialanpassade dataprogram, en simbassäng för simning och träning, man ger även kurser för anhöriga och det finns ett elevhem där barn och ungdomer kan övernatta kortare eller längre tider.
Habilitation is a concept that stems from the same Latin root as Habil, in this sense means habilitation "to make proficient". Contrary to rehabilitation - therapy aimed at improving function that has been lost or diminished by disease or injury - habilitation offers help to develop any kind of function. Defined by the Swedish health care act the institution Habilitering offers children and youth with permanent disabilities and/or their families help and activities in addition to regular medical care - a "plus resource". The overall goal of Habilitering is to contribute to a child´s development into a live as independent citizen - to contribute to the "autonomy and participation". This may involve measures to facilitate, improve or compensate for e.g. communication or movement. Help can be obtained from e.g. physiotherapists, dieticians, nurses, occupational therapists, speech therapists, counselors, doctors or psychologists.
