Geocache Description:

Mambray Creek. Heart of the Southern Flinders Ranges.

Mambray Creek, in the Mount Remarkable National Park (Southern Flinders Ranges), offers visitors exciting recreational experiences within easy reach of Adelaide. Mambray Creek Campground is the primary vehicle-based campground for the park. It is well-appointed with solar heated showers, flush toilets, reticulated water and barbeques. The campground is set along the Mambray Creek, with its towering gums and abundant wildlife. Dramatic mountain scenery, sheer-faced gorges and natural diversity draw visitors further into the park, along an extensive and well-marked series of walking trails. This family friendly area is a great location for camping, bushwalking and other outdoor activities.

There are numerous walking trails in the area with several caches close by. Along the walking trails you may see the western gray kangaroos and emus that roaming freely throughout the park. There are tadpoles in the creek. There is kookaburras in the trees. If you are lucky you will see yellow footed rock wallabies on the rock faces. If you are unlucky you might see a brown snake.

There is a $9 entry fee for day visitors. The area has public toilets and a number of BBQ's and picnic tables that are spread thoughout. All facilities are free once inside the park.
