Geocache Description:

This cache is located a short drive from the rural township of Barmera. Known for its large freshwater lake fed from the River Murray, (Lake Bonney), it is a wonderful holiday destination. A short drive from the cache location is the site of one of Australia’s largest internment camps during World War Two. It was built to house German, Italian and Japanese internees and prisoners of war. (To find the camp return to the bitumen and turn left. Continue for approx 5 km.) Your drive to this cache site will take you past some local vineyards, (the Riverland is known for some fantastic wines) and finish at a dead end private property. To the right is a property where old rifle remains have been found. What stories could they tell from World War Two...........maybe an escapee........?
