Geocache Description:

The Owyhee high desert offers many remote, off-highway adventures, scenic viewpoints, and rough & tumble "roads" for those who dare to venture out. This cache is another excuse (as if we needed one) to get out and enjoy the great outdoors of southern Idaho.

This cache is very remote and requires traveling some primitive roads. High clearance, 4WD vehicles are highly recommended; ATV's will also be OK. The two best ways to this cache are from: 1) Battle Creek Rd (from the south or west) or 2) the Big Jack's/Little Jack's wilderness areas (from the northeast). Be aware of recent weather conditions. Out on the high desert, water can collect in very large puddles and mud holes making the going treacherous. Recent rains and/or spring runoff will also make the creek crossings more treacherous. Venturing in this area during the dry season (June through September) is recommended. As with any cache this remote, please go well equipped with plenty of food, water, fuel and good tires. Also, make sure someone knows your whereabouts.

The cache itself is a regular ammo can with a variety of stuff, some of which might come in handy in a remote spot like this. It's out of sight but shouldn't be too hard to find. (see hint)

Why the "Watch and Key Crossing" name?: The previous time I crossed Battle Creek at this spot (in July, 2011), it looked a little unsafe so I decided to walk it first. While changing from jeans to shorts I unknowingly spilled the contents of my pockets. Late that day I discovered my loss, guessing it happened where I changed clothes. Both my watch (from the late 80's) and key ring (from the early 90's) had sentimental value so it was worth a try to find them. Although the odds were slim, 3 months later we gave it a try. I found the watch first (it was still running and on time!) and ghound found the key ring shortly thereafter! It was a good day.
