Geocache Description:

Welcome to The Riddler Series!

This is a series of six caches in the Holcombe Preserve owned by the Newtown Forest Association. There is a field puzzle in each cache of this series which will give a clue to the location of the final 6th cache.

The preserve is open year round but is closed at night. No motorized vehicles; dogs allowed on leashes.

Riddle me this, Riddle me that, who is afraid of the big black bat*
Riddle me this!

The Riddler has stolen this cache and has given this clue for Batman to find it!

Riddle me this Batman:

How much dirt is in a hole that is 19 feet by 6 feet by 1.5 feet?

This cache is located at:

N41 23.724-X
W73 20.821-X

Where "x" is equal to the cubic feet of dirt that are in the hole of the above size.

The Riddler has left a field puzzle inside of this cache which once you solve it will give you a three digit number. Record this number as you will need it at cache number 5 to solve for the location of the final cache.

See link to the NFA website: Holcombe Preserve

Holcombe Fact:
During WWII the Holcombe’s engaged in farming in the course of which Mrs. Holcombe operated a crawler tractor and raised livestock. Her husband served as First Selectman of Newtown in the 1940’s and was a member of the first Council.

Please visit the dog cemetery on your way to cache number 3. It is visible from cache number 2. Look for a large boulder and a cedar tree on the left side.
NOTE: You will find a brige at N41 23.670 W73 20.765 to get to cache number 3.
