Geocache Description:


The Green County Barn Quilts project started in 2008, and by the end of 2010 the 100th barn quilt was installed. Barn quilts are painted wooden squares (designed like one block of a real quilt pattern), generally 8 x 8 feet in size. Some are located on "working" barns, and others are displayed on "retired" barns. It's not as challenging as geocaching, but hunting for the barn quilt locations is a true adventure in experiencing the roads less traveled of the Green County countryside.

Austin Farms owns and rents approximately 5000 acres. Having graduated from UW Platteville in 2010, son Dan will be joining the family farming operation. The quilt pattern (Marine Star) was chosen in honor of the Austin’s youngest daughter April, who is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps.
