Geocache Description:

The Green County Barn Quilts project started in 2008, and by the end of 2010 the 100th barn quilt was installed. Barn quilts are painted wooden squares (designed like one block of a real quilt pattern), generally 8 x 8 feet in size. Some are located on "working" barns, and others are displayed on "retired" barns. It's not as challenging as geocaching, but hunting for the barn quilt locations is a true adventure in experiencing the roads less traveled of the Green County countryside.

The property has been in the family since 1903, when it was purchased by John Waelti (Howard's grandfather). It was originally a dairy barn and is now used for machine storage. This pattern was 1st published in the Kansas City Star in 1931 as Stepping Stones. Original title was Good Cheer in 1906, but has also been known as Arrow Pints, Black Beauty, Star & Stripe, and the Hunt. The Waelti's prefer the quilt pattern name Arrow Head.

Visit this quilt's web page at Green County Barns Quilts. The Geocache Notification Form has been submitted to Steve Johnston of the Wisconsin DNR. Geocaches placed on Wisconsin Department of Natural Resource managed lands require permission by means of a notification form.
