Cache is place at two POI's. First POI is the back end of the racetrack. If you look straight up you can see the fields where the Balaklava Cup is held every year. The Balaklava Racing Club was established in 1903 and since this time has grown to be one of South Australia's most successful country clubs. The Balaklava Cup is traditionally held on the first Wednesday in September. Cup day attracts a crowd of more than 12,000 people annually with people coming from city and surrounding country region to enjoy the atmosphere of one of the state's premier events. A day of fun, great racing, fashion, food and wine. The second POI is on the other side of the road to the left. Now a Bed and breakfast this heritage listed house is called The Matchbox house due to it's irregular shape. Located on the corner of George Street and Gwy Terrace, the home was built circa 1906, for Balaklava’s first veterinary surgeon, Frank Higham, where he lived until he left the town in 1914. Please wander over and have a look at the shape of the house.
