Regular cache with room for swaps and a pencil for logs. Beautiful views across the Mid North from here. On the site of the old Port Henry Arms (the cairn/plaque is interesting reading but not GZ). Please recover carefully.
Port Henry Arms stood here from 1849-1857. A large number of mule teams travelled the gulf road from Burra to Port Wakefield carrying copper ore from the mines at Burra and returning with coal from Port Wakefield. Port Henry Arms Hotel was built near this spot on Hoiles Hill to serve teamsters travelling the gulf road. On 5th September 1850 James Yates was hanged at the Adelaide Gaol for the murder of James Mansforth near the pub on 24 July 1850.
