Geocache Description:

This is another quiet place to visit in Pottwatomie County. This particular cemetery is known as Fairview Cemetery, however it is located on Fox Road so for most locals is known also as Fox Cemetery.

There are really old graves at this cemetery. There is even one that has been totally covered by vegetation. Another one is so old that a whole tree has grown on top of it. You will see that the concrete flower bed that was built around the grave site is broken because of the roots.

I found an obituary for a woman that you can try to find in this cemetery. She died in 1961 and she was an immigrant from Germany.

KOHN, MINNIE CHRISTINE (NO DATE)

Minnie Christine Kohn, daughter of Henry Blume and Augusta Kuhne was born July 30, 1878 in Trovinz, Hanover, Germany. She was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran church in Kl. Fluthe Hanover, Germany by Pastor Ritterbusch. At the age of six she came from Germany with her parents who resided on a farm south of Westmoreland where she grew to womanhood.

On May 20, 1897 she was united in wedlock with Charles F. Kohn. They resided on a farm south of Wheaton. To this union was born three sons and one daughter. Two sons died in infancy, her husband Charles, died August 9, 1934 and one son, Henry, January 28, 1960. Since the death of her husband, she resided at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alfonso F. Kufahl.

On November 1, 1942, she was confirmed by Pastor Hildebrandt of Duluth. Later he membership was transferred to St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wheaton.

After a lingering illness she fell asleep in Jesus October 19, 1961 at Dechairo hospital at the age of 83 years, 2 months and 20 days.

Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Alfonso F. Kufahl; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nina Kohn of Maple Hill; one son-in-law, Alfonso F. Kufahl; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Goehring and Mrs. Henry Lelievre, Westmoreland; one brother, Henry Blume, Wamego; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Herman Blume, Wamego, and Mrs. W. H. Blume, Arlington; one brother-in-law Henry Lelievre, Westmoreland; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 21, at 2:00 in the afternoon at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wheaton, and interment was made in the Fox cemetery south of Wheaton.

Pallbearers were: Bill Blume, Gilbert Goehring, Lester Goehring, Guy Blume, Argyle Blume and Geo. Mayer, Jr.

Anyways at this area you are looking for a pill bottle that is camouflaged. I attached some wire ties to the cache to make it easier to retrieve from its hideout. Please make sure you hide it well after finding it, and pay special attentio to let the wire ties accessible for the next geocacher.

The cemetery has not have a curfew but please restrain yourselves to go find after sunset or if anybody is having a service or visiting those resting here.
