Welcome to "The Peterman Reality Tour", Yorkton style. Still not sure what exactly that is, but we will find out as we go on, "and go we will". This stop is where Supersonic70 from Supersonic70&thepitcrew played hockey as a kid. There is a ball field here now. I wasn't much for ball, other than getting a tooth knocked out once, but I did love hockey. For those of you who are in your 40's like me and Di, you likely remember the old Yorkton arena that was once here. Unfortunately it is gone and all that remains is an old firehydrant with 2 old style metal guard rails around it. It was a great building, with some of the best ice to play on. It had natural ice on a sand base and wooden boards with chain link fence on top. There was even an outdoor rink on the east side of the building that we used as well. This was the kind of rink that us kids used to almost live at whether we were playing or watching the Yorkton Terriers play junior hockey. I even got to be a goal judge for the Terriers while I was in junior high. I was thrilled as I got free hot chocolate during intermissions and got to sit in the referee's room! My posting was to climb up the end zone seats, up the ladder, along the main beam in the rafters and down into the crow's nest! An awesome time for a kid in junior high! Letting the penalty box know how many shots I counted was high tec as I held my hand down against the box I sat in until they counted my fingers! LOL! A great memory and lots of fun. Enjoy the cache.
