Inspiration for the character is from the book "Wendal, His Cat,
and the Progress of Man" an illustrated novel by V. Campudoni.
Wendal has lost his luggage. Please help him find it. Wendal
believes he has narrowed the search to three locations. Sadly
Wendal has forgotten exactly where he left it, so he must start
from the beggining.
Wendal works. Wendal works a lot.
Wendal worked in a very small office surrounded by a very big
civilization called mankind. Mankind was constantly on the move and
forever progressing, and Wendal's job, in this civilazation was to
do nothing.
Wendal did nothing and he did it well. Wendal worked hard at doing
nothing and hard work was a virtue.
Wendal's inspiration to work hard was his boss. Wendal's boss was a
fine man with many great qualities and a zest for life. Wendal's
boss would say things like, "I need you, Wendal," "Can I give you
another raise, Wendal?" Sometimes Wendal's boss would just sit in
his office and think of ways to make Wendal's life easier.
One day Wendal's boss tells Wendal he has a special job, that only
Wendal can do. Before Wendal could discuss the "special job" his
boss handed him a ticket, money, and papers. "Go give this
presentation for us and you will get a raise." Wendal took his
tickets, money, and papers home to pack his things.
Wendal arrived at the airport prepared to board the plane when the
clerk said "This is a bus ticket, not a plane ticket." Wendal
wondered why his boss gave him a bus ticket and not a plane ticket.
Maybe he remembered Wendal was scared of heights. Wendal did not
even know where the bus station was.
