Geocache Description:

Another cache celebrating stringers common, a vital part of the green belt! The cache is a placed on the edge of the Stringers Common. You will need a pen and a keen eye for this one! Please seal the bag the log book is in as the container is NOT waterproof. Stealth will be required when removing and replacing this cache as there are muggle houses nearby. The cache is very close to a busy junction, and is not really suited for young children.

Stringers Common, in north Guildford, is part of the Worplesdon group of commons and was once grazed common land. It is much smaller (35.2ha) and less well-known than its adjacent cousin, Whitmoor Common but nonetheless important and is designated as a SNCI (Site of Nature Conservation Importance). It is owned by Surrey County Council and managed by Surrey Wildlife Trust.
Since grazing ceased, much of the site has been slowly reverting back to even age secondary woodland with only a few open areas of the original species rich unimproved grassland remaining.
