Geocache Description:

Definitely not your average drive-by cache. A decent walk along an unmarked and overgrown track with plenty of gorse and cutty-grass is involved. BYO pen. Best done in conjunction with GC367PT. Cool views, lots of pig sign, gorse and cutty grass. Hard yakka.

Orokawa Scenic Reserve is north of Waihi Beach, and comprises of 145 hectares of native bush. Dogs, horses, vehicles (including bicycles and motorbikes), fires, removal of plants or animals, camping or hunting are not permitted.

While taking a look at the area in google earth, I noticed an unmarked track in the aerial photos. This track is available for download as a GPX file (right click - save link as...).

Enable it on your GPS and follow it to the cache and beyond. All the usual disclaimers apply regarding file downloads - use at your own risk, virus check it, etc.

If you do follow the full track, you will meet some farmland at the top of the reserve. Permission has NOT been sought to enter the farmland, and there is no requirement to do so. Please stay on the bush side of the fence.
